Facility Maintenance & Construction Technician

Location: Natorp Nursery – Mason, Ohio Position Type: Full-Time

About Us

Natorp Nursery is a fourth-generation, 110-year-old production nursery committed to growing high-quality plants and continuously improving our facilities. As we expand our production areas—including new greenhouse construction and infrastructure upgrades—we’re seeking a skilled, hands-on technician to help build, maintain, and enhance our property.

Position Summary

The Facility Maintenance & Construction Technician plays a key role in maintaining existing structures and supporting new construction projects across our nursery. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys varied, hands-on work in an outdoor environment and has experience in construction, fabrication, or equipment operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Facility maintenance — Perform general repairs and upkeep of buildings, structures, and nursery infrastructure
• Greenhouse construction — Assist with building new greenhouses and expanding growing areas
• Equipment operation — Safely operate power tools, machinery, and construction equipment
• Fabrication work — Build, modify, or repair structures, fixtures, and components
• Troubleshooting — Diagnose and repair facility systems and structural issues
• Site preparation — Assist with grading, material handling, and project setup
• Tool and equipment care — Maintain tools, machinery, and work areas
• Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, carpentry, or related trades
• Strong working knowledge of power tools and construction equipment
• Basic fabrication skills (metal, wood, or polycarbonate preferred)
• Ability to read and follow plans or drawings
• Mechanically inclined with strong problem‑solving abilities
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Dependable, self‑motivated, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

• Welding experience
• Skid steer or tractor operation
• Greenhouse or agricultural construction experience
