PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: Summary

Reprts to: Growers and Facilities Manger

Hourly rate $22 per hour with a spray rate premium at $30 per hour

A.  Pesticide Applicator is responsible for applying fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides and assisting Growers in developing and implementing programs for continual process improvement related to water quality, water management, pest management, diagnostics and            safety as it relates to pesticide applications.

B.  Pesticide Applicator will develop skills and knowledge for maximizing capabilities and achieve peak performance.

C.  Carry out the administrative tasks associated with IPM programs, scouting, data collection, resource training for maintaining certified pesticide applicator license,  Maintain accurate, up-to-date records for WPS, SDS, required state records and postings.

D.  Create a career plan and develop personal, professional skills through continual education and certificate credits.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES but not limited to the following:

  1. Responsible for assisting and implementing the spray program created by grower with specific areas and timing intervals.
  2. Responsible for keeping pesticide records as it relates to the State of Ohio.
  3. Responsible for keeping a valid pesticide applicator license.
  4. Implement spray programs to control, eradicate, or cure as it relates to insects, weeds and diseases as directed by Growers.
  5. Implement, manage and supervise day-to-day operation of herbicide application (pre and post), when applicable.
  6. Develop a positive work culture where performance and quality output is achieved.
  7. Build relationships with other Coaches, Vendors, and Suppliers.
  8. Meet with Growers on a regular basis to provide updates on the progress of pesticide and herbicide applications with information on results of the process.
  9. Must manage chemical storage as it relates to personnel and environmental safety. 
  10. Must be able to order and maintain adequate chemical inventory levels.
  11. Must be willing to work flexible hours including after hours.

SUPERVISION TO BE RECEIVED:

Under direct supervision of the Growers and Facility Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prefer a minimum of three years experience of nursery or related experience, with emphasis on chemical application. Applicators license is required.  Plant and industry knowledge a must. Good oral and written skills.
