Summary:

The Wm. A. Natorp Co. produces and harvests annually between 350,000 – 400,000 containerized plants, perennials, trees and shrubs as well as field grown plants for sales or for up-shifts. The Propagator shares the responsibility for the success and efficiency of our growing operations. 

Qualifications

  • Previous experience leading Plant Propagation or Plant Production processes.
  • 3+ years' experience directly leading others
  • Proficiency in cutting, sticking and seeding techniques.
  • Experience growing container finished Herbs and Vegetables.
  • Excellent time management, communication (both written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer-based skills (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work weekends when needed.

 

Responsibilities

  • In this role the Propagation Coach will oversee all aspects of Greenhouse operations, ensuring high-quality plant production, optimal crop readiness, and efficient management of the greenhouse environment.
  • Manage propagation processes, including adjusting greenhouse air and soil temperatures, ventilation, mist settings, humidity, fertility, and organizing crops based on mist and plant growth requirements.
  • Receive and care of cuttings and seeds.
  • Oversee all stages of plant growth in Propagation and Vegetable production to ensure high quality and harvest readiness, monitor plant health and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure facilities and equipment operate properly and efficiently
  • Monitor daily for insect and disease. Collaborate with Grower Coach and Plant Health to minimize crop loss and maintain plant health.
  • Strategically plan and execute crop placement to maximize space utilization and ensure optimal growing conditions for each plant variety.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and train team members to enhance their skills and foster a collaborative, productive work environment.
  • Maintain detailed records of crop progress, environmental conditions, pest management, and team activities to track outputs and performance, improve crop timing, and refine production recipes.
  • Monitor crops daily, and weekly walks with the Grower Coach, to ensure adherence to quality standards, promptly addressing any issues related to plant health or quality.

 

Benefits

  • Full-time year-round position. Part-time hours are not available for this position.
  • Benefits available after 90 days including PTO, Holiday Pay, Health Insurance, Dental, Vision, and Life. 401k available after 1 year.
  • The salary range for this position is $45,000-$70,000 depending on experience.
